About Pat Jak
From soccer to baseball to fencing, Pat has been active in sports his entire life. He began riding for Miami University’s cycling team in 1991 and shortly after graduating worked with Pacific Sports and the National City Bank Triathlon.
From 1999 to 2003 while working in eBusiness for Anthem Prescription Management, he noticed coworkers were continuously asking for advice on everything from weight loss to preparation for a 5-k run. By 2004, he decided to turn it into a full-time career and created FitnessVantage.
Since then, Pat has studied under some of the best and brightest in health, fitness, and sport such as Eddie Borysewicz, Ryan Burgess, Todd Durkin, Scott Goodpaster, Jeff King, Brett Klika, and JC Santana. He has earned his Masters degree in Exercise Science with a concentration on Sports Psychology along with numerous licenses and certifications.
His workouts have been featured in Bicycling Magazine and he is now a cycling coach, personal trainer, and strength coach in San Diego, CA where he is also Director of Metabolic Testing at Fitness Quest 10 and Head Coach of the USCD Cycling Team.
Being on all sides of the equation has helped him as a coach and trainer. From being a father, to working at a desk in Corporate America, to racing across the country, to working in course design for international events, Pat has gained the experience and perspective to help customers cope with the various situations they may face while trying to be their best.
